Purpose in Chaos

2024

Awarded 1st place by Georgetown Sculpture Tour ’24-’25

My artistic practice revolves around the interplay of human connection, reflected in the “Arrangement” series. This series, with “Purpose in Chaos” as a starting point, explores the dance between shape, connection, and pattern-making. The sculptures invite the viewer on a journey of discovery, prompting introspection on how we relate to each other and the environment we inhabit.

“Purpose in Chaos” itself is a playful composition of abstract forms. These elements connect, rotate, and stack, presenting a constantly evolving experience depending on the viewer’s perspective. Every shift in position reveals a new intersection of lines, shapes, and shadows, fostering a sense of wonder and engagement.

Let Your Ideas Fly #1

Available for purchase

On view during the 2024 Austin Studio Tour this November 16  at Windsor Public Library.

Measuring just shy of 7ft tall, this latest metal sculpture is nearing completion.

“Let Your Ideas Fly #1” is an interactive exploration of negative space and kinetic movement. As the individual forms are moved, the composition changes, presenting a constantly evolving experience depending on the viewer’s perspective.

Ridiculous Expectations

Available for purchase

“Ridiculous Expectations” started out as an intuitive play with multiple curved shapes. It was a labor-intensive process of joining circles and curves, then creating a void in the center of a curved contour. The underside is sealed with perforated metal, painted in my signature fiery orange-red color, hidden from plain view. Only with closer attention does the viewer get a glimpse of what’s hidden beneath.
